Remembering

I am reading through the book of Colossians on a loop. Starting with chapter 1 and reading a chapter a day going back to 1 after finishing chapter 4. This time through I saw something that stuck out.

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”

Being thankful to God for what he has done in my past. Remembering all the big and little miracles. It does me good to pray in this way. It reminds me of how good God is and how He works through our prayers.

Paul wrote something similar in his letter to the Philippians.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

We can and should pray about anything and everything remembering to be thankful for all He has already done. It is good to remember how good and kind and generous God is.

I hope this helps someone today.

I am a man. I am an older man. I am a husband and a dad and a grandpa. I am a disciple of Jesus. Because I am a disciple of Jesus much of what I write is about him, and I usually end what I write with a question, do you the reader know that Jesus loves you? He does. He loves us all but he loves you specifically. He loves me specifically. What will you do with that information today?
