I am reading Live no Lies by John Mark Comer.
In it he identifies our enemy and our enemies strategy to win us over so he can destroy us.
Here is a summary of our enemies strategy.
“In summary: the devil’s goal is to first isolate us, then implant in our minds deceitful ideas that play to our disordered desires, which we feel comfortable with because they are normalized by the status quo of our society. Specifically, he lies about who God is, who we are, and what the good life is, with an aim to undermine our trust in God’s love and wisdom. His intent is to get us to seize autonomy from God and redefine good and evil for ourselves, thereby leading to the ruin of our souls and society.“
We have an enemy. He is real he wants to destroy us and will use any means possible to get us to doubt God and wrestle control away from our Heavenly Father.
How does God feel about us? Can we trust him with our lives? What about Jesus? What is it he came to do? How does it all work?
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” John 3:16-21 NIV
We have an enemy who wants to destroy us.
More importantly we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and gave his only son to die for us- for us means instead of us. Jesus died the death that because of our sin, the death we deserve to die. Once our sin was paid for, God raised him back to life. Now he lives forever and we can too.
We have choice.
I highly recommend choosing God, by receiving what his son Jesus did to save us.
