God with us

We are 2000 years plus into the new era. For Christians it is easy to take for granted that God would come to earth and visit us. Sometimes it is easy to accept without much thought that he would come as King and creator of all of creation and yet be born in a most humble state. Born to peasants and sleeping in a barn, his cradle a feeding trough.

Mary’s song “God with us” starts out with our grandchildren singing “Away in a manger” and then Mary and our son Aaron Loeffelbein sing Mary’s song.

As I listen I try to take away the 21st century knowledge of the event and listen with fresh ears to the message that God has come to live among us. It was and is miraculous.

I am a man. I am an older man. I am a husband and a dad and a grandpa. I am a disciple of Jesus. Because I am a disciple of Jesus much of what I write is about him, and I usually end what I write with a question, do you the reader know that Jesus loves you? He does. He loves us all but he loves you specifically. He loves me specifically. What will you do with that information today?
