Getting God’s attention

“Jesus! Son of David, have mercy on me!”

It’s what blind Bartemeus was shouting from the side of the road as Jesus walked by. This great teacher/healer who was everyone’s lips was within arms reach. He had already healed so many. Could he/would he heal Bart too?

In church today we had an opportunity to stand and be prayed for and this situation always reminds me of Bartemeus and I shout inside my heart “Jesus son of David, have mercy on me!” And just like with Bart, I feel him ask me, “what do you want me to do for you?” And just like Bart I walk away changed, Bart could see and me? My heart is changed, cleansed and I am reminded that there is a God and that this God loves me enough to stop and meet with me when I have the courage to cry out him.

I am a man. I am an older man. I am a husband and a dad and a grandpa. I am a disciple of Jesus. Because I am a disciple of Jesus much of what I write is about him, and I usually end what I write with a question, do you the reader know that Jesus loves you? He does. He loves us all but he loves you specifically. He loves me specifically. What will you do with that information today?
